Eurasion Milfoil Watch
In 2006 Region 5 DEC installed 2 plant receptacles with signage at Buck Pond. They are still handing out the RLA "Courtesy and Safety" flier with invasive species information, including how to clean boats. As was done in 2005, again in 2006, with help by a grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program, the RLA hired Paul Smith's College stewards to meet with boaters on weekends to educate about Eurasian Waterfmilfoil and Southern Naiad and to inspect and clean boats.
This year RLA will begin a program of volunteer stewards to add to the time that PSC covers. (I am still waiting to hear from LCBP about a grant for 2007 stewards. We should have been notified by now and it should be here any day.) Call Joe Deignan if you want to volunteer 3 hours for this volunteer stewards program.
